Position Overview: Senior Project Engineer

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Senior Project Engineer to join our Upstream Development & Engineering team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for leading and managing the front-end engineering design (FEED) and execution phases of key upstream oil and gas projects. These projects range from new wellhead platform installations, subsea infrastructure, and pipeline systems to major modifications and brownfield upgrades on existing offshore assets. You will act as the technical and execution lead, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality and integrity standards. This position is central to BSP’s strategic objectives of sustaining production, increasing recovery, and safely extending the life of our assets.

Key Responsibilities & Project Impact

You will be entrusted with the end-to-end project management of significant capital investments. Your core duties will include:

• Project Leadership & Delivery: Assume full accountability for the safe, on-schedule, and on-budget delivery of assigned upstream projects, from conception through to commissioning and handover to Operations.

• Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) Management: Lead the FEED stage, developing clear project scopes, cost estimates (+/- 20%), execution plans, and schedules. Ensure all technical studies, risk assessments, and value-improvement practices are rigorously completed.

• Contractor & Stakeholder Management: Manage engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractors, ensuring strict adherence to BSP’s Technical Standards, Safety (HSSE) requirements, and contracting principles. Serve as the primary interface with Operations, Maintenance, and Subsurface teams to ensure project alignment.

• Technical Assurance & Quality Control: Provide robust technical oversight and assurance throughout the project lifecycle. Review and approve key engineering deliverables, manage design changes, and ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.

• Risk, Cost, & Schedule Control: Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate project risks. Manage the project cost forecast and control budget expenditure. Monitor and control the project schedule using advanced planning tools, implementing recovery plans as needed.

• HSSE Leadership: Champion and enforce an uncompromising safety culture on all project activities. Lead by example, ensuring HSSE is the first priority in planning and execution, with a target of zero harm to people and the environment.

Candidate Profile: Qualifications and Experience

We are looking for a seasoned project engineering professional with a proven track record in the upstream oil and gas sector. The ideal candidate will possess:

Essential Technical Expertise & Background:

• A Bachelor’s degree (minimum) in Mechanical, Civil, Petroleum, or Chemical Engineering. A Master’s degree or chartered engineer status is advantageous.

• A minimum of 10 years of direct experience in project engineering and management within the upstream offshore oil and gas industry, with at least 5 years in a senior role.

• Demonstrable hands-on experience managing the full project lifecycle for offshore facilities, including wellhead platforms, pipelines, subsea systems, or major brownfield modifications.

• Comprehensive knowledge of industry engineering standards, design practices, and construction methodologies for offshore environments.

• Proven experience in managing EPC or EPCM contractors, including contract administration, performance management, and commercial negotiations.

• Strong proficiency with project management tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) and a deep understanding of project controls (cost, schedule, risk).
