Position Overview: Roles with Global Impact

Successful candidates will be integral to bp’s core operations and its strategic pivot. You will work on the frontline of our businesses:

  • Production & Operations: Safely extracting and processing energy resources.

  • Products & Customers: Refining, trading, and delivering energy products worldwide.

  • Gas & Low Carbon Energy: Developing and scaling up renewable power, biofuels, hydrogen, and CCUS (Carbon Capture, Use and Storage).

Detailed Role Categories & Core Responsibilities

While specific duties vary, responsibilities are organized by major business and functional areas:

1. Engineering, Operations & Maintenance

  • Discipline Engineering: Provide technical expertise in civil, mechanical, electrical, process, subsea, or instrumentation engineering for both offshore and onshore facilities.

  • Operations Technician/Engineer: Ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient day-to-day operation of production platforms, refineries, or petrochemical plants. Monitor systems, perform routine maintenance, and execute safety procedures.

  • Maintenance & Integrity: Develop and oversee inspection, maintenance, and integrity management programs to ensure asset reliability and longevity.

  • Project Delivery: Manage the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of capital projects, from small upgrades to major greenfield developments, adhering to cost, schedule, and safety standards.

2. Trading, Shipping & Commercial

  • Trading Analyst/Operator: Analyze market fundamentals, execute trades, and manage risk positions in oil, gas, power, or renewables markets.

  • Commercial Development: Structure and negotiate long-term supply agreements, joint ventures, and offtake contracts for hydrocarbons and low-carbon energy products.

  • Shipping & Logistics: Charter vessels, plan optimal shipping routes, and manage the global maritime logistics of our products.

3. Geosciences, Subsurface & Wells

  • Geoscientist/Reservoir Engineer: Interpret seismic data, build reservoir models, and devise optimal strategies to maximize resource recovery from existing and new fields.

  • Wells Engineer: Design, plan, and execute the drilling and completion of oil and gas wells with an unwavering focus on safety and technical excellence.

4. Digital, Data & Technology

  • Digital Solutions Engineer: Develop and deploy digital tools, including IoT sensors, AI/ML models, and advanced analytics, to optimize operations, predictive maintenance, and trading.

  • Cybersecurity Specialist: Protect bp’s critical industrial control systems (ICS/OT) and corporate IT infrastructure from evolving global threats.

  • Data Scientist: Extract insights from vast operational and commercial datasets to drive decision-making and create new value.

5. Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE)

  • HSSE Advisor: Embed a culture of safety and operational risk management. Conduct audits, lead incident investigations, and ensure compliance with bp’s Operating Management System (OMS) and local regulations.
