About Global Fund for Women

Global Fund for Women is a global champion for the human rights of women, girls, and all marginalized people. We operate on the frontlines of feminist activism, moving resources to grassroots organizations and movements worldwide to fuel collective action and create meaningful, lasting change. We believe in a world where every person can realize their full potential, free from discrimination and violence.

As a fully remote, globally distributed team, we are driven by our core values: Feminist LeadershipCourageAccountability, and Collective Action. We are not just funders; we are partners in a global movement for gender justice.

Your Role: The Heartbeat of Our Team

We are seeking a passionate and strategic People & Culture Officer to join our team. This is not a traditional HR role. Here, you will be the architect of our internal culture, the champion for our team’s well-being, and a key partner in advancing our feminist mission from within.

In this pivotal position, you will ensure that our internal practices reflect the equity and justice we fight for in the world. You will develop and implement strategies that attract, develop, engage, and retain a diverse, talented, and globally dispersed team. You will be instrumental in building a workplace where every team member feels valued, supported, and empowered to do their best work.

Key Responsibilities & Impact Areas

You will own and drive initiatives across the full employee lifecycle, with a focus on fostering a thriving, equitable, and mission-aligned organization.

Talent Management & Development

  • Recruitment & Onboarding: Lead full-cycle recruitment for global roles, ensuring processes are equitable, efficient, and attract top-tier, values-aligned talent. Design and manage a comprehensive remote onboarding experience that fosters connection and clarity from day one.

  • Learning & Growth: Develop and implement professional development programs that build skills, foster feminist leadership principles, and support career pathways within the organization.

  • Performance & Feedback: Manage a supportive performance review process that emphasizes continuous feedback, growth, and alignment with organizational goals.

Culture, Engagement & Well-being

  • Culture Stewardship: Proactively nurture our remote-first, feminist culture. Initiate programs and rituals that build community, trust, and collaboration across time zones.

  • Employee Engagement: Regularly gauge team sentiment through surveys and conversations. Develop and execute action plans to enhance engagement, morale, and a sense of belonging.

  • Well-being Focus: Champion holistic employee well-being by evaluating and enhancing benefits, policies, and practices that support mental, physical, and financial health for a global team.

Policy, Compliance & Operations

  • Policy Development: Maintain, update, and communicate clear, equitable, and globally conscious HR policies and procedures.

  • Global Compliance: Ensure organizational compliance with employment laws and regulations across multiple countries where staff are located, partnering with legal consultants as needed.

  • HR Systems & Data: Manage HR information systems (HRIS) and utilize people analytics to generate insights that inform decision-making and strategy.

Who We Are Looking For: Qualifications & Competencies

Essential Experience & Skills

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in human resources, people operations, or organizational development, preferably within the non-profit, social justice, or international sector.

  • Proven expertise in remote-first culture building and managing HR functions for a geographically dispersed team.

  • Deep commitment to and understanding of feminist principles, racial justice, diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) and the ability to translate these principles into actionable HR practices.

  • Strong knowledge of global employment standards, compliance, and best practices.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with high emotional intelligence and the ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion, empathy, and fairness.

  • Project management prowess, with the ability to design, lead, and implement initiatives from conception to evaluation.

Ideal Mindset & Attributes

  • A Bridge Builder: You connect people and ideas. You thrive on making processes more human-centered and are skilled at facilitating understanding across differences.

  • A Systems Thinker: You see how policies, culture, and operations interconnect. You can identify root causes and design solutions that create positive, systemic change within the organization.
