Strategic Purpose of the Role

To develop, implement, and monitor a robust Quality Improvement (QI) and Patient Safety Program across the KMSG network. You will serve as a subject matter expert, facilitator, and change agent, working collaboratively with hospital administrators, physicians, nurses, and clinical staff to embed a culture of safety and continuous improvement. Your work will directly contribute to reducing preventable harm, improving clinical outcomes, ensuring compliance with national and international accreditation standards (such as JCI, CBAHI, or MOH), and enhancing the overall safety and reliability of care delivery.


Core Responsibilities & Key Performance Areas

1. Program Development & Management

  • Develop, update, and implement the organization-wide Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Plan.

  • Establish and maintain a framework for clinical quality indicators, including benchmarking, data collection, analysis, and reporting dashboards.

  • Coordinate the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) processes for serious safety events and near misses.

  • Manage the organization’s incident reporting system, ensuring timely reporting, analysis, and feedback to frontline staff.

2. Accreditation & Standards Compliance

  • Act as the primary coordinator for maintaining and preparing for accreditation surveys (e.g., MOH, CBAHI, JCI).

  • Conduct regular gap analyses and internal audits against accreditation standards and national regulations.

  • Develop and maintain a library of policies and procedures related to quality and patient safety, ensuring they are current and accessible.

  • Educate staff at all levels on accreditation requirements and quality standards.

3. Data Analysis, Reporting & Performance Improvement

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret clinical data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Prepare and present comprehensive quality and safety reports for departmental meetings, Quality Committee, and senior management.

  • Facilitate Quality Improvement teams using methodologies such as PDSA (Plan-Do-Study-Act) cycles to address priority areas (e.g., infection control, medication safety, fall prevention).

  • Monitor the effectiveness of implemented improvement initiatives and track outcomes over time.

4. Education & Culture Building

  • Design and deliver training programs on patient safety culture, error prevention, and quality improvement tools.

  • Promote non-punitive reporting and a just culture that focuses on system improvement rather than individual blame.

  • Serve as a resource and coach for clinical staff and unit-based quality champions.

5. Risk Management Integration

  • Collaborate closely with the Risk Management and Infection Prevention & Control departments.

  • Participate in patient safety rounds and environment of care inspections.

  • Assist in the development and review of clinical pathways and protocols to standardize care and reduce variability.


Candidate Profile: Qualifications, Skills & Experience

Essential Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Medicine, Pharmacy, or a related healthcare field. A Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or Quality Management is highly preferred.

  • Certifications: Professional certification in quality or patient safety (e.g., CPHQ – Certified Professional in Healthcare QualityCPPS – Certified Professional in Patient Safety) is required or must be obtained within the first 12 months of employment.

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in a hospital setting.

    • Minimum of 3 years of dedicated experience in a hospital quality department, patient safety office, or accreditation coordination role.

    • Proven hands-on experience with accreditation processes (CBAHI, JCI, or equivalent) and clinical audit methodologies.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in data analysis, statistics, and quality metric development.

    • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and healthcare data management systems.

    • In-depth knowledge of quality improvement models (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) and patient safety science.

  • Personal Attributes:

    • Meticulous & Analytical: Exceptional attention to detail and a data-driven approach to problem-solving.

    • Influential Communicator: Excellent presentation, training, and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to diverse audiences. Fluency in English is required; Arabic is a significant asset.

    • Diplomatic & Resilient: Ability to navigate sensitive situations, influence change without direct authority, and maintain professionalism in a complex healthcare environment.

    • Proactive & Systematic: A self-starter who can develop structure, manage multiple projects, and drive initiatives to completion.

Advantageous Qualifications

  • Prior work experience within the GCC healthcare sector, specifically in Kuwait.

  • Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and clinical analytics modules.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar project management certification.
