Position: MQ-9B CAT A Mechanic
The landscape of modern aviation extends beyond traditional commercial and passenger aircraft, playing a critical role in defense and security operations. Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), such as the MQ-9, represent the cutting edge of this technology, requiring specialized ground support to ensure mission readiness and operational success. Phoenix Solutions & Consulting is supporting a vital defense program by recruiting for a MQ-9B CAT A Mechanic. This is a full-time, permanent position that requires relocation to Western Europe.
We are seeking skilled mechanics with a military background to join a dedicated team supporting advanced UAS operations. This role is ideal for a former military technician who is looking to apply their skills in a dynamic, international environment on one of the most significant platforms in modern aviation. If you have a background in military aviation maintenance and meet the stringent security requirements, we encourage you to apply.

Your Mission: Supporting Advanced Unmanned Aerial Systems
As an MQ-9B CAT A Mechanic, you will be an integral part of a close-knit team responsible for the maintenance, servicing, and operational readiness of the MQ-9B platform. Your work will directly contribute to the success and safety of critical flight operations. Unlike many civilian aviation roles, this position leverages the specific skills and discipline honed in a military environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Your day-to-day duties will be hands-on and critical to mission success. Key responsibilities include:
-
Line Maintenance and Servicing: Performing pre-flight, post-flight, thru-flight, and periodic inspections on the MQ-9B air vehicle and its associated ground support equipment.
-
Component Removal and Installation: Competently handling the removal and installation of aircraft components, including engines, propellers, actuators, and sensors, following detailed technical orders.
-
Troubleshooting and Diagnosis: Utilizing technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic equipment to identify and rectify system malfunctions and defects.
-
Maintenance Documentation: Accurately recording all maintenance actions, inspections, and component histories in the designated forms and electronic systems, ensuring full traceability and compliance with program standards.
-
Ground Handling: Participating in the launch and recovery operations of the aircraft, including towing, taxiing, and system pre-checks.
-
Collaboration: Working effectively with a multidisciplinary team of technicians, engineers, and operators to ensure seamless integration between maintenance and flight operations.
The Ideal Candidate Profile
We are looking for a candidate with a solid foundation in military aviation maintenance. The ideal profile is a disciplined, security-conscious professional who thrives in a structured, mission-oriented environment.
Mandatory Requirements:
These criteria are non-negotiable due to the sensitive nature of the program:
-
Military Maintenance Experience: Proven experience as a Mechanic within a military setting. This could include roles in the Air Force, Army, Navy, or Marines, with experience on any aircraft platform.
-
Security Clearance: Must hold a current NATO Security Clearance or have held one in the recent past (typically within the last 12-24 months). The ability to obtain a new clearance is mandatory.
-
Nationality: Must be a NATO or EU National.
-
Relocation: Must be willing and able to relocate to Western Europe for this permanent position.
-
Technical Aptitude: A strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to interpret and work from technical data and manuals.

A unique aspect of this role is that no civilian aviation licenses (such as EASA Part-66 or FAA A&P) are required. Your training and experience from the military are the primary qualifications. The employer will provide platform-specific training on the MQ-9B systems.
What Will Make You Stand Out?
Beyond the mandatory requirements, we highly value candidates who embody the following attributes:
-
Discipline and Integrity: A proven track record of reliability and adherence to strict procedures and protocols, inherent in military training.
-

-
Problem-Solving Under Pressure: The capacity to remain calm and systematic when troubleshooting complex systems, ensuring issues are resolved effectively to maintain operational schedules.
-
Adaptability: The flexibility to adapt to new cultures, work in an international team, and embrace the challenges of living and working abroad.
