1. Introduction: A Mission for a Sustainable Future

In a world facing unprecedented biodiversity loss and climate challenges, the work of conservation has never been more critical. BirdLife International stands at the forefront of this global effort, representing a powerful partnership of non-governmental conservation organizations across the planet. The BirdLife Europe and Central Asia (ECA) division is now seeking a dedicated and skilled professional to join its dynamic team.

This is not merely a job; it is a call to action. It is an opportunity to contribute your expertise to a science-driven, partnership-based movement that delivers tangible, positive impact for nature and people. With a competitive salary and a flexible location within the region, this role is designed to attract the highest caliber of talent committed to the future of our natural world. If you are driven by purpose and seek a career where your work has a genuine, lasting legacy, we invite you to explore this opportunity.

2. Our Organization: The BirdLife International Partnership

Before applying, it is essential to understand the organization you could be joining. BirdLife International is not a single entity but a global partnership of over 115 national non-governmental conservation organizations. This unique structure gives us an unparalleled grassroots presence and the ability to influence policy at the highest levels.

Our vision is a world where nature and people thrive. Our mission is to conserve birds, their habitats, and global biodiversity, working with people towards sustainability in the use of natural resources.

The Europe and Central Asia division operates as a crucial coordinating and implementing body within this partnership. Our work in this diverse and critically important region focuses on:

  • Influencing EU and Pan-European Policy: Advocating for strong nature conservation laws, such as the Birds and Habitats Directives, and ensuring they are effectively implemented.

  • Implementing Conservation on the Ground: Managing and delivering projects that protect and restore key habitats, from wetlands and forests to grasslands and marine areas.

  • Empowering a Network of Partners: Building the capacity of our national Partner organizations to achieve their conservation goals effectively.

  • Science-Based Action: Using data from our long-term monitoring programs, including the work of countless volunteers, to inform all our conservation decisions.

3. The Role: A Deep Dive into Responsibilities and Impact

  • Science and Conservation:

    • Contributing to the analysis of data on bird populations and key biodiversity areas.

    • Applying scientific findings to identify conservation priorities and develop practical solutions for species and habitat protection.
