Position Overview: Your Role in Shaping the Narrative
As a Communications Intern, you will support the planning and execution of UNDP’s communication strategies. You will work under the guidance of experienced communications professionals, gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced, international environment. Core Responsibilities: What You Will Do
Your day-to-day work will be dynamic and varied, providing you with a well-rounded understanding of communications in a multilateral context. Key responsibilities include:
1. Content Creation and Digital Storytelling:

Assist in drafting, editing, and proofreading a variety of communication materials, including press releases, web articles, blog posts, and social media content.

Support the creation of compelling multimedia products, such as short videos, photo essays, infographics, and social media cards.

Help manage and update content on UNDP’s global and regional websites and intranet.
2. Social Media Management and Analytics:

Support the management of UNDP’s social media accounts (e.g., Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram).

Help schedule posts, monitor engagement, and participate in online conversations.

Assist in tracking social media performance and compiling analytics reports to inform future strategy.
3. Media and Public Outreach:

Help maintain and update media contact databases.

Support the monitoring of media coverage of UNDP and key development issues.

Assist in the preparation of background communication materials and briefing packets for events and missions.
4. Internal Communications and Knowledge Management:

Contribute to internal newsletters and communication channels to keep staff informed and engaged.

Help organize and support virtual and in-person events, launches, and campaigns.

Ideal Candidate Profile: Who You Are
We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about communication and its power to drive positive change. The ideal intern will see themselves in the following description:
A. Educational Background:

Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or

Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); or

Have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one year of graduation.

Field of study in Communications, Journalism, International Relations, Public Relations, Marketing, Digital Media, or a related field is required.
B. Core Competencies and Skills:

Exceptional Writing and Editing Skills: You have a strong command of English (both written and verbal), with the ability to draft clear, concise, and engaging copy for different audiences and platforms.

Digital Proficiency: You are comfortable with major social media platforms and have a keen interest in digital trends. Experience with basic graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) or video editing software is a distinct advantage.

Analytical Mindset: You have an interest in using data and analytics to measure the reach and impact of communication efforts.
