Introduction: Where Climate Action Meets People Power

The defining challenge of our time is the climate crisis. The most promising solution is democracy. But not just any democracy—a form of governance where people have a direct, meaningful say in the decisions that shape their environment and their future. This is the critical intersection where you will find your purpose.

We are a global hub dedicated to advancing participatory democracy worldwide. We believe that the complex, systemic transition to a sustainable world cannot be imposed from the top down; it must be co-created from the ground up. We are building a future where community-led decisions drive climate policy, ensuring that the transition is not only swift but also equitable and just.

To help us achieve this ambitious vision, we are seeking a strategic and passionate Climate Democracy Program Coordinator. This is not a conventional administrative role. This is a central, dynamic position for a individual who can manage complex projects, foster global collaborations, and empower a network of change-makers. If you are driven to tackle the climate crisis by strengthening democratic processes, you have found your professional home.

Your Mission: Empowering a Global Movement

As the Climate Democracy Program Coordinator, you will be the operational and strategic backbone of our initiatives focused on climate and democracy. Your core mission is to support and expand a global network of practitioners, governments, and civil society organizations implementing participatory methods—such as Citizens’ Assemblies and Participatory Budgeting—for climate action.

You will be responsible for ensuring our programs are executed flawlessly, our knowledge is shared effectively, and our impact is continuously amplified. You will be the connective tissue that turns individual successes into a powerful, unified global force.

Key Responsibilities: The Core of Your Role

Your day-to-day work will be diverse, challenging, and deeply rewarding. You will be entrusted with a portfolio of responsibilities that blend program management, communication, and network cultivation.

1. Program Management & Coordination (40%)

  • Serve as the central point for the planning, execution, and monitoring of the Climate Democracy Program.

  • Develop detailed work plans, track progress against strategic goals, and manage program timelines and deliverables.

  • Coordinate logistics for a wide range of activities, including virtual workshops, in-person convenings, and public webinars.

  • Prepare comprehensive program reports for internal stakeholders and external funders, demonstrating impact and guiding future strategy.

2. Knowledge Management & Communication (30%)

  • Act as the curator and disseminator of critical knowledge on climate democracy.

  • Research and document compelling case studies of participatory democracy in action for climate policy.

  • Develop accessible and impactful communication materials, including blog posts, newsletters, and briefing documents, to translate complex ideas for diverse audiences.

  • Manage and update the climate democracy section of our digital platforms, ensuring our global community has access to the best resources.

3. Network Engagement & Support (20%)

  • Foster a vibrant, active, and supportive global community of practice.

  • Facilitate connections and peer-learning exchanges between partners across different regions and contexts.

  • Provide direct logistical and administrative support to grantees and partners implementing projects on the ground.

  • Identify and onboard new, promising actors into our growing network.

4. Strategic Support & Administrative Excellence (10%)

  • Provide crucial support to the Program Director, assisting with strategic planning, budgeting, and donor relations.

  • Manage program-related finances, including processing invoices and tracking expenses.

  • Embody a collaborative spirit, contributing to the overall health and success of our remote-first, global team.
