Unitaid stands at the forefront of this effort, pioneering new ways to prevent, diagnose, and treat major diseases in low- and middle-income countries faster and more affordably. We leverage strategic investments to overcome market barriers and introduce innovative health products and approaches.

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and proactive Communications Consultant to join our dynamic team. This is a unique, home-based opportunity to apply your expertise to projects of profound global significance. With a competitive salary of USD 626 per day, this role is designed for a communications professional who is driven by purpose and seeks to make a tangible difference in the world.

Understanding the Role: The Power of Strategic Narrative

The Communications Consultant at Unitaid is not a passive observer but a key architect of our global narrative. You will be responsible for developing and executing high-impact communication strategies that amplify the results of Unitaid’s investments, engage a diverse set of stakeholders, and position the organization as a thought leader in global health innovation. Your work will directly contribute to our mission of making life-saving health products more accessible and effective for the world’s most vulnerable populations.

Key Responsibilities and Strategic Functions:

Your role will be multifaceted, blending strategic planning with creative execution. Your core duties will include:

  • Strategic Communications Development: Crafting and implementing integrated communication plans for specific Unitaid portfolios or key initiatives, ensuring alignment with our overarching organizational strategy.

  • High-Impact Content Creation: Researching, writing, editing, and proofreading a wide range of compelling materials, including:

    • Press releases, media advisories, and fact sheets.

    • In-depth articles, blog posts, and web stories that highlight project successes and lessons learned.

    • Powerpoint presentations and speaking notes for senior leadership for high-level international events.

    • Social media content and engagement strategies.

  • Media Relations and Outreach: Proactively building relationships with key international and regional journalists. Pitching stories, coordinating interviews, and managing media inquiries to secure positive and accurate coverage of Unitaid’s work.

  • Stakeholder Engagement Support: Developing communication toolkits and materials to support our partnerships with the World Health Organization, governments, NGOs, and other global health actors.

  • Digital Presence Management: Collaborating with the web team to update and optimize Unitaid’s digital platforms, ensuring content is current, engaging, and accessible to a global audience.

  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Tracking media coverage and analyzing the impact of communication campaigns, providing regular reports and insights to guide future strategies.

The Projects You Will Impact:

You will not be working on abstract concepts. Your communications efforts will be directly tied to real-world, life-saving interventions. Unitaid’s current priorities include:

  • HIV & Tuberculosis: Accelerating the introduction of better treatments and preventive therapies.

  • Malaria: Expanding access to next-generation mosquito nets and effective medicines.

  • Women’s and Children’s Health: Investing in innovations that reduce maternal mortality and improve child health.

  • Cross-Cutting Areas: Addressing critical issues like antimicrobial resistance and improving diagnostic systems.
