Manufacturing Engineering Specialist (m/f/d) Position at AMM Group

The aerospace industry stands at the forefront of precision, innovation, and digital transformation. As manufacturing processes become increasingly complex and integrated, the role of the Manufacturing Engineering Specialist has evolved into a critical function that bridges the gap between traditional production and the digital factory of the future. Our organization, a key player in this high-stakes environment, is expanding its team in Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany. We are seeking multiple Manufacturing Engineering Specialists (m/f/d) to lead our charge in digitalizing and optimizing our production systems.

This is not a conventional manufacturing role. It is a position designed for a strategic thinker and a technical leader who can architect processes, implement cutting-edge digital tools, and shape the very system that will define the future of aircraft production. If you are passionate about lean principles, digital thread integration, and building excellence from the ground up, this role offers a unique and impactful career opportunity.

The Role: Manufacturing Engineering Specialist (m/f/d)

As a Manufacturing Engineering Specialist, you will be a catalyst for change and a driver of efficiency. You will be entrusted with a dual mandate: to lead a technical team and to personally design and implement the digital backbone of our manufacturing operations. Your work will directly contribute to establishing a world-class production system for Deutsche aircraft.

Your primary responsibilities will be split across two key areas:

1. Leadership and Digital Transformation:

  • Lead a Small, Agile Team: You will guide and mentor a dedicated team of engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and digital innovation.

  • Champion Digitalisation: Drive the strategic initiative to digitalize core manufacturing engineering processes, eliminating paper-based systems and creating a seamless digital thread from design to delivery.

  • Facilitate Process Improvement: Act as a key facilitator for value stream mapping and process re-engineering workshops, engaging stakeholders across departments to identify and eliminate waste.

2. Technical Implementation and Systems Architecture:

  • Map Process Landscapes: Create detailed and accurate maps of our value streams and production processes using industry-standard methodologies like SIPOC (Suppliers, Inputs, Process, Outputs, Customers) and EPK (Event-Driven Process Chain).

  • Implement and Integrate Digital Tools: Take a leading role in the implementation and configuration of key planning and execution tools, with a specific focus on:

    • DELMIA: For digital manufacturing simulation and process planning.

    • SAP: Building and refining relevant processes within the SAP production planning (PP)Extended Warehouse Management (EWM), and Plant Engineering and Operations (PEO) modules.

    • 3DX-SAP Interface: Ensuring robust and error-free data exchange between the 3DEXPERIENCE platform and our SAP backbone.

  • Develop Time Study Systems: Establish and maintain advanced time study systems, such as Methods-Time Measurement (MTM), to create standardized, efficient work sequences and accurate performance ratings.

  • Establish the Production System: Be a core contributor to the development and rollout of the Deutsche aircraft Production System, a lean manufacturing framework that will serve as the operational blueprint for all production activities.

The Technological and Methodological Landscape

You will be working with a suite of powerful enterprise-level technologies and applying proven methodological frameworks.

Core Software and Systems:

  • SAP Ecosystem: Deep expertise in SAP PP (Production Planning)SAP EWM (Extended Warehouse Management), and SAP PEO (Plant Engineering and Operations) is fundamental.

  • Digital Manufacturing: Proficiency with DELMIA for process simulation and its critical integration with SAP is a key requirement.

  • Platform Integration: Experience with the 3DX-SAP interface is crucial for maintaining data integrity across the digital thread.

  • Process Modeling Tools: Practical experience with tools for creating EPK and SIPOC diagrams.

Core Methodologies and Philosophies:

  • Lean Manufacturing & OPEX (Operational Excellence): A deep, practical understanding of lean philosophy, tools, and its application in a high-value manufacturing environment.

  • Systems Thinking: The ability to understand and design complex, interconnected systems, anticipating how changes in one area impact the entire production landscape.

  • Time Management Systems: Proven knowledge and application of MTM (Methods-Time Measurement) or similar predetermined time standard systems.

The Ideal Candidate Profile

We are looking for a unique blend of technical expertise, leadership potential, and strategic vision.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.

  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a manufacturing engineering role, preferably within aerospace, automotive, or another highly regulated, precision-driven industry.

  • Demonstrable expertise in process mapping and facilitation, with a strong portfolio of experience using SIPOC and EPK.

  • Hands-on, practical knowledge of SAP production planning (SAP PP) and its integration with other manufacturing systems.

  • Proven experience with DELMIA and a clear understanding of its role in digital manufacturing and integration points with ERP systems.

  • A solid foundation in time study methodologies, specifically MTM, and performance rating.

  • A deep understanding of OPEX principles and lean manufacturing philosophy.

  • Professional fluency in English, as it is the working language of our international team.

Preferred Qualifications (Advantages):

  • Experience in leading projects or small teams in a technical environment.

  • Knowledge of SAP EWM (Extended Warehouse Management) and SAP PEO (Plant Engineering and Operations).

  • Direct experience with the 3DEXPERIENCE platform and its 3DX-SAP interface.

  • Professional proficiency in German is a significant advantage for seamless integration with local teams and processes.

  • A proven track record of contributing to the establishment of a company-wide production system (e.g., Toyota Production System, Airbus Production Way).

Location and Work Environment

  • Location: Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany. This area is part of the vibrant Munich metropolitan region and is renowned as a major hub for aerospace and technology, home to the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and a dense network of innovative companies.

  • Language: The corporate language is English, reflecting our international focus. However, German language skills are highly valued for daily interaction and deeper integration into the local operational context.
